Copenhagen, Royal Arena

The Royal Arena lives up to its name—a posh, Danish version of Manchester Arena that operates in a very different way from a Ziggo Dome filled with Amsterdammers on a Saturday night. On stage on a Monday night in a vast all seated venue takes a bit more concentration but that concentration was amply rewarded.

Copenhagen has always been a great city for us to play. We played to a sold out Amager Bio in September 2022 and it felt like a lot of people who were there were in the house tonight: more than a few people in the audience were singing along. Kris got a few hundred hands in the air during the outro to 'Kiss This Thing Goodbye'.

And a great city to have a rest day in. Drinking coffee the spring sunshine yesterday watching the hardy souls bathing at the Havnebadet Islands Brygge was the perfect respite from three days on the bus. The Kalvebod Fælled nature reserve is right next to the Arena—a big, flat, quiet place that was blissful to aimlessly wander away the time before sound check.

Batteries recharged and spirits high from the show we set of into the night in The Phoenix to Hamburg and the beginning of the German leg of the tour.
